Trái thị’s aroma has always been iconic in Vietnamese culture. It is associated with various aspects of Vietnamese life, from the folk tale where Tấm magically appears from the fragrant trái thị to perform household chores to the real-life childhood memory of keeping thị in a desk drawer, jacket pocket, or hanging it in a room to preserve its lingering fragrance. Yet little is known about this fruit besides its honey-like aroma. Is it edible, and where can you buy it?
Saigoneer wrote an article about the fruit, and our designer Hannah had the opportunity to provide art direction for the article. She created an illustration and directed other aspects, collaborating with talented designers Phan Nhi, Patty Yang, Phương Phan, and Jessie Trần.
