When Vietnamese folks chat about breakfast, they usually think of classics like phở, cơm tấm, and bún bò. But there’s another old favorite that often gets brushed aside: canned food. These might not be fancy, but they’re a real staple for lots of Vietnamese growing up. Canned sardines, Ông Thọ condensed milk, and Bretel butter have always been there for a quick bánh mì before class or a fresh, iced cup of cà phê sữa đá to kickstart the day.
